“My Campus”

by Angelina Vita

Empty halls once filled with life

past the silent doors once rang with voice

to the cold lot void of all vessels

down the road of stillness where students ran

by the flat signs where girls swayed their hips by waiting cars

the campus once had lived

with fails and triumphs and these lies

now this silent, echoed room

cold and hard as if we’d never been

as if we did not laugh in them

as if we did not spend our lives in them

as if we’ve still not realized the stars are unreachable

the campus lies in wait

no souls and smiles to call its own

the campus hates our summer break
